AutoCAD Detailer:

Midsouth Steel, LLC., is a steel fabrication and erection company based out of Atlanta, Georgia. We currently have an opening for an AutoCAD detailer. This is a full-time position, that will be responsible for AutoCAD detailing of miscellaneous steel building components and connections. This position will also be responsible for utilizing computer software to convert AutoCAD drawings to files to be used for the fabrication of structural steel and steel assemblies.

Education/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong comprehension of construction documents and building construction
  • Knowledge of steel detailing and building codes is preferred
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong time-management skills

Steel Estimator Job Description:

Summary-

Midsouth Steel, LLC., is a steel fabrication and erection company based out of Atlanta. We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated estimator to join our growing team. In this position, you will be primarily responsible for analyzing projects, estimating labor and material costs, and communicating financial costs and project timelines to our clients. You must have a keen attention to detail and proven skills at estimating projects from a bird’s-eye view in order to set our client’s expectations accurately.

Profile-

  • Estimate work by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
  • Estimate labor, material, and time requirements in order to be able to compute the overall cost of the project
  • Provide detailed reports so the company can make informed decisions that will enhance its profitability and growth
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends

Responsibilities-

  • Understand the project and its requirements
  • Determine key variables for cost and other estimates
  • Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times etc.
  • Use software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting
  • Perform risk analysis
  • Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitions etc.)
  • Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.)
  • Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs etc.)
  • Explore documentation in order to gain a deeper understanding of the project requirements
  • Select, measure and track important metrics
  • Prepare relevant and reliable forecasts
  • Create and present reports to upper management
  • Analyze and evaluate offers
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with the key vendors
  • Read blueprints and analyze all other applicable documents in order to prepare estimates
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and architects during estimate creation in order to ensure overall accuracy
  • Act as the final say in the calculation and adjustment of estimates
  • Present estimates to clients in a timely and polite manner
  • Recommend cost-reduction options for the company
  • Assist sales team in final project preparation transactions
  • Maintain thorough records of all project documentation including estimates, sales receipts, and project completion documentation

Requirements-

  • Experience with reading blueprints and an understanding of general construction
  • Familiarity with financial and project management principles
  • In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas
  • Exquisite math and IT ability with an analytical mindset
  • Proficient in relevant software (Microsoft Office, Sage 300, Tekla EPM & Bluebeam)
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • BS/BA in engineering, construction science or relevant discipline
  • Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) will be an asset

Assistant Project Manager Job Description:

Assistant Project Manager (Atlanta, GA): Assist project managers & coordinate operations on projects; obtain project schedules from clients & coordinate with submittal schedule; log all submittals and RFIs into Sage 300; follow up with detailing, engineering (Jira) & clients about status of submittals & RFIs; organize project folders for submittals, RFIs and design drawings. Req’s Bachelor’s in Civil Eng., or rel. with 2 yrs. of experience in managing project documentation like Submittals, RFIs, daily reports, progress pictures as well as reviewing & evaluating day-to-day activities to ensure schedules & workplans were executed.
